I don't really want to be here anymore. I didn't know who else to call.
Thank you for telling me. I'm not a counselor, and I want you with a person right now. If you're in immediate danger, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Okay.
I'm connecting you to the on-call clinician now and staying on the line until someone picks up.
The call taxonomy
The ten calls a practice phone gets, handled
What clients actually call about, and what Clinivocx does with each.
| The call | What Clinivocx does |
|---|---|
| New client intake inquiry | Captures the concern in their words, insurance, and availability |
| Session booking or reschedule | Books or rebooks on the call against your open hours |
| Cancellation and no-show policy | Reads your written policy back verbatim, no improvising |
| Superbill or receipt request | Captures dates and details; routes an action item to billing |
| Out-of-network or insurance question | Answers from your knowledge base; verification goes to staff |
| Sliding scale or fee question | Shares only the fee range you have published |
| Suicidal ideation or self-harm | Escalates immediately and refers the caller to 988 |
| Distressed caller, no crisis indicators | Warm handoff per your rules. The AI never counsels |
| Medication question for a prescriber | Routed to the prescriber. Never answered by the AI |
| Records or release-of-information request | Captures the request and routes it to your staff |
Most calls to a therapy practice are administrative: a reschedule, a superbill, a question about your fee. A solo clinician in session cannot take any of them. A few calls are something else entirely, and those need a human in seconds, not a voicemail.
Said plainly
When a human-answered crisis line is required
Clinivocx escalates crisis calls. It is not, and should not be, your crisis service.
If your caseload carries meaningful acuity, keep human crisis coverage. That includes practices treating active suicidality, clients recently discharged from inpatient care, substance withdrawal, eating disorder programs, court-mandated caseloads, and any setting where a clinician is expected to assess risk on the phone. An AI cannot assess risk, and Clinivocx does not pretend otherwise.
What Clinivocx does in those practices is take the rest of the phone off your desk: intake, scheduling, cancellations, superbills, records requests. When a crisis call does land on the line, the AI names its own limits, refers the caller to 988, and transfers to whoever your protocol names, rather than holding the caller in a menu.
If you are a low-acuity practice doing weekly outpatient therapy, escalation plus 988 may be the whole answer. That is your clinical judgment to make, not a vendor's.
Intake arrives written down
Presenting concern, insurance, and availability captured in the caller's words, summarized before you finish session.
Crisis calls reach a person
Suicidal ideation and self-harm trigger a 988 referral and immediate transfer under your protocol, at any hour.
Policies read back exactly
Your cancellation window, no-show fee, and published rates come from your knowledge base, never from improvisation.
